The Copenhagen Legacy

The $2500 Copenhagen Legacy Essay Scholarship, an initiative of the University of Toronto’s Student Union was open to anyone enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution. The contest asked students to imagine themselves in the year 2110, and to write an essay about the 2009 United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen. With a critical eye cast back over 100 years, how will our environmental successes and stumbles be judged by future generations? Below is Clara Luke’s winning entry, selected by a panel of Canada’s environmental leaders and edited for Alternatives Journal.
