Federal Election

Today marks 23 days until the Canadian federal election. In part of our 30-day election coverage, we’ve compiled the top environment and election related content that made headlines this week.

To sum up this week, people all across Canada are asking the same question. Why is the environment missing from election discussions?

  • The David Suzuki Foundation analyzed the Globe and Mail Leaders’ debate assessing the discussions on climate change, clean technology, infrastructure and transit funding
  • Macleans examined the lack of conservation discussion by political party leaders despite Canada’s previous international reputation as a leader in wildlife conservation
  • Hillary Clinton announced her opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline, leaving Canadians awaiting the responses from political parties
  • National Post created a current list of all the promises made in the Canadian election campaign
  • The Globe and Mail prepared an energy and environment election primer
  • David Suzuki shared his vision for Canada’s economy
  • GreenPac released their Green 18, a list of 18 candidates with strong environmental track records
